“Het was een indrukwekkend concert” aldus één van de concertbezoekers die op zaterdagavond 2 november jl. in het CKC Theater naar het optreden van Harmonie Orkest Zoetermeer was komen luisteren. “Het was zo mooi, ik wilde nog wel meer horen”, aldus een ander. Het pittige, vurige programma viel dus zeker in de smaak. Met het bekende Chariots of Fire werd het concert geopend. Daarna speelde het orkest het stuk Winds on Fire van de Belgische componist Bert Appermont. Een bijzondere compositie waarin elke partij een puzzelstukje van het grotere geheel is. Met Arabian Dances namen de muzikanten het publiek mee naar een vurig feest in de woestijn.

Zangeres Marion Schmitz betoverde het publiek met het Spaanse Historia de un Amor. Met haar warme stem nam ze het publiek mee in het dramatische liefdeslied van Carlos Almaran. Met Pilatus, Mountain of Dragons van componist Steven Reineke liet het orkest horen zeker ook de grote concertwerken goed aan te kunnen. Er werd in klank en beeld een muzikaal verhaal verteld, waarbij indrukwekkend gemusiceerd werd.

Met de Spaanse wals Un Poco Espagnol, het rocknummer Fire & Ice en de jazz-standard That Old Black Magic liet het orkest zich van haar lichte kant horen en werd de concertavond (volgens sommige bezoekers te vroeg) mooi en vrolijk afgesloten.
